‘A Night out at Mrs Days Soham 29th Nov 2009’

We really did have a wonderful evening, it was great meeting Kay Chasalow (a member of Michael’s Friends Group from Texas Houston, it was a lovely, lively, and friendly evening. Mrs Day did us proud again with our meal and we certainly had our money's worth with the entertainment.
Michael is such a great entertainer and so friendly towards his fans.  Here’s my report.

Well, yet another good night was enjoyed
A return to Soham, so soon
Who were we seeing this time
Well the delightful Michael Muldoon.

We braved the descending mist and fog
No hiccups we found on the way
A warm welcome awaited us
From Dave, Kathy, Shirley and Kay.

Yes, we finally met Kay there from Texas
She was everything we imagined her to be
Already well-travelled on this UK trip
Many more shows planned to see.

Then a special welcome from Michael
Who'd met only me, once before
But he knew just who were the others
He reads his emails, for sure.

With Birthday greetings to Harry
He was just a little surprised
Val told him she'd seen him in Kincasslagh
And Richard he soon recognised.

Dinner was served fairly promptly
We tucked into some lovely fayre
Just under one hundred were present
A shame a few more were not there.

But hey, we had fun without them
And Michael was soon on his spot
In his grey stripy suit and pink tie
With great musicians, Shane and Scott.

I did a song list for reference
It's probably 95% accur-ate
With no less than 43 songs
The collection was simply just great.

Hello My Friends started us off
And the dance floor was soon on the go
With all sorts of songs to dance to
From the fast to the nice and the slow.

Then a dance spectacular bestowed us
As two young girls took  the floor
Some fantastic Irish dancing
Left us yelling for More, More, and More.

They wowed the audience immensely
With their speed, their skill and their style
Their feet never stopped for a moment
And we clapped for more than a while

Michael introduced Chloe Costello
Who sang some songs from the shows
Where her powerful voice came from
No-one really knows!

She sang a couple of new ones
From Les Mis, and Jekyll and Hyde
Then Hey Big Spender by Bassey
Showed her more dramatic side!

Michael wowed the ladies once more
And got the men their, hips a-swinging
Nearly all those who were present
were on the floor all dancing and singing.

The time drew near to finish
A wonderful show and conclusion
But NO, we wouldn't go home
Be under no such illusion!!

Michael prepared for his final show-stopper
A particular favourite of mine
You Raise Me Up reached the rafters
He sang it so perfectly fine.

The chance for photos was taken
Him knowing my perfume made my night
Many thank yous for a great show and performance
Everything about it was just right.

The fog it had cleared for the journey
As we returned to whence we had come
What a great night we'd all had with Michael
Good company, entertainment and fun.

Thank you Michael for making it happen
Mrs Day for the lovely venue
Oh and I forgot to mention Kay's downfall
…Something about her in the Gent's  Loo ??? !!!!

North West Association - DINNER DANCE 2009

Last night Friday April 24th we attended The Daniel O'Donnell North West Association Dinner Dance and as a lot of people asked if I would do a report here it is.

We arrived at The Dunkenhalgh Hotel mid afternoon immediately meeting up with friends in the car park and as is always the way at these events as we made our way to check in met many more. We had been given a room in The Conference Wing it was beautiful and looked out over the woodland. As we were unpacking we had phone calls from friends asking if we had arrived so visiting was on the cards which we proceeded to do finishing up with more friends in the tea room enjoying a welcome cup of tea.

The theme of the evening was pink and it was amazing at the variety of choices people had made some very elegant others a little more bizarre. The room as always was beautifully decorated each table with pink balloons floating above and a basket of pink pens, breast cancer ribbons and some other tokens symbolizing breast cancer.

The guest of honour was announced and the evening began, Daniel looked very well after his extended break from touring and he had his black suit on with white shirt, black waistcoat and black tie. He spoke for a few minutes thanking us all for coming and telling us how much he had enjoyed his break and was looking forward to touring and meeting up with as many fans/friends as he could at the
shows.

After a lovely four course meal followed by coffee and mints the evening’s entertainment got underway. We knew some of the performers for the evening but had been promised a few surprises, the first being an Elvis impersonator who was very good and entertained us with songs from many facets of Elvis's life playing to the crowd all the time. Next we had a very special young lady who goes by the name of Chloe Costello now I am one of the lucky ones who has seen Chloe perform many times but for many this was a first and I think everyone there was astounded at the wonderful strong voice coming from such a tiny slip of a girl even Daniel commented on the strength of her voice and what an incredible performance she gave nobody but the ones of us who know Chloe would have realized how nervous she was before coming to sing. Now for another favourite of many of us The North West's own star their adopted son Michael Muldoon who didn't disappoint any of his many fans by including Good looking Women in his repertoire he isn't known as snake hips for nothing. Now for the main act a singer who has appeared on the same stage with Daniel many times at these events Shawn Cuddy well what can I say Shawn just knows how to entertain? At one point he paid tribute to Kathleen Daniels sister who had travelled across with her husband on their 25th wedding anniversary to surprise Daniel. It was lovely to see her on stage singing along with Shawn. Needless to say in between times there were comments from Daniel who had spent a lot of time dancing with various people and of course dancing with Kathleen, which for me is always a joy to see.

Daniel joined Shawn on stage where they just immediately started singing together they just seem to know what each other is going to do or say. The funniest thing happened though they were both singing and at exactly the same point something distracted them and they both forgot the words then both picked up again at the same time incredible. It was wonderful because they just gave everything and the show just got better and better if that was possible. We knew it had to end sometime and Daniel called all the performers including Joe Casserley (the D.J.) on stage where they sang a few songs together. Then that was it, another dinner dance over and next year to look forward to when
hopefully we get the chance to do it again. After the meet and greet with Shawn plus Michael and Chloe it was off to bed.

Email from Kathy Williams dated 15thjune 2008

Hi
Here is the promised report from another wonderful night, after
travelling to Longbridge which is on the outskirts of Birmingham we
met up with several friends and once inside the concert room which by
the way was lovely we all took our seats along the front edge of the
dance floor opposite the stage.
Michael came on stage at about 9pm looking very relaxed in a lovely
grey suit and white shirt opening the show with Hello My Friends and
then proceeded to sing many more favourites plus some from his new
c.d. which he had not sung live before. Michael made a joke about the
front row as i think most of the people there had not seen him before.
just before the start of the show we found details on the
merchandising about the weekend away and I know several people showed
interest of course my form is filled in, cheque for deposit written
and given back to Michael. Needless to say because all the details
were on the form I can't tell you much apart from we are staying in a
gorgeous hotel and spa complex near Coventry with all meals (one of
which is a gala dinner) and entertainment provided plus a coach trip
to Stratford upon Avon and boat ride along the river. I am sure
details for everyone will be sent to you soon.
Back to the show after the break Michael also had a beautiful dark suit on then changed again into black trousers, white shirt and white/cream jacket.

Michael sang another couple of songs
and then introduced Chloe onto the stage who once more entertained us
wonderfully at one point there was total silence apart from Chloe
singing as everybody was so taken with her.
Another very quick break and back with Michael now up to this point
there had only been a few people dancing but now we had some faster
numbers and soon the floor was quite busy. As usual Michael had us
singing and kicking our legs to New York New York then joining in
with Delilah and Fields of Athenry. Must not forget Good looking Woman
need I say more lol.
All too soon as always the end of the evening crept up on us so after
lots of goodbyes a final chat with Michael, Steve, Chloe and Margaret
we left to journey home.
One thing I know for certain is that although the room was only half
full this time the entertainment manager told us that Michael will be
back and he is positive that the room will be overflowing when word
of mouth gets round about how good Michael is.
The new c.d in fact all Michaels c.d's sold very well.

Love

Kathy xx

Maureen Roddick

Hi to all Michael fans,

I have had the pleasure on seeing Michael on two occasions once in Chichester at the "Venue" on Thursday,15th July (my friend Sarah)  and I, on our arrival which is only 20 minuets from where I was born and visit my 94 year old mum every week we were greeted with Mike but no Jill, and Margaret (Michael M's  mum)  there was not any other person that we new, oh sorry there was a couple that come from Guilford we used to see at Soham, but do not know there names sorry.  They were so pleased to see us, and it was good to see them all, including just Paul in the band with Adam on music Michael performed for an hour and a half, and he was really so good as usual, and soon had the audience singing and clapping with him to all his favourite songs.. At the end I did get a mention which did thrill and surprise me, to wish me a very Happy Birthday, and sung it to me, after he made me feel so special as he does. I really thought that he was directing his little speech to someone else until Sarah said stand up he is talking about you and asking for you to stand up.  After our wait he gave us our usual picture and kiss which kept me going all the way back home.(but no Chloe) he said that he had to share the evening with T.J Dallas so Chloe stayed at home.
A smashing big board advertising the forthcoming week-end reunion, was displayed for everyone to see with another big poster of the man himself, I expect you will have seen it at the show you all went to on Saturday at Erdington..
Then Sunday arrived and with the two hour journey going, and Michaels music playing on the CD we arrived to see Michael at his van to welcome us in with a wave.  The evening started with welcoming in the Golden Girls, Sue, Joan, Mary, Marilyn, Sarah, Audrey, and husbands in tow.  Then I spotted Keely and Richard who I had not seen for what seems ages, so the whole gang were there.  Michael came on to sing, and spotted us all there which I hope made his day, and he then went into all his lovely songs, and we took to the floor to dance, and the banter started, which made us feel at home.  Second half he then told us that Chloe was having her first show, and had just spoken to her, and she felt it was going  well.  I hope that someone on this web site  went, and can tell us how they enjoyed it  as we would have loved to be there to support her for her fist show.  Michael said he had been abandoned as Jill, Mike, Margaret, and Chloe's Mum and Dad were all there supporting her, and he felt abandoned, I said all the Golden Girls were there so what more did he want. Off came the jacket and it must have been the first time I can recall seeing Michael in a shirt, and it was a real lovely white special designed on at that.  As usual it was over far to quick and it was time to say our farewells, but not before he gave us three more songs and of course one had to be Good Looking Woman which all must know by now is my favourite.  I do hope that Michael and Chloe read our site and if they do then well done Chloe for your fist show and I hope you will come down South to do a Show for us real soon.  All the men folk want to put there tee shirts on for you.  Well I do hope that I have covered all that went on and it makes sensible reading for you all, even if your not able to be there with us.

WEEKEND IN WARWICKSHIRE
WITH THE FRIENDS OF MICHAEL MULDOON

We arrived at the hotel at about 1pm it was the hunting lodge of Brandon Hall which was mentioned in The Doomsday Book and was set in acres of glorious woodland. We found our room which was lovely then off to the bar we went meeting up with lots of friends old and new. Dave has already bumped into Michael but soon after he came into the bar to say hello he looked really well think his holiday and time on the cruise had helped. Chloe soon followed but she was not well as she had a sore throat and her voice was very croaky but in the true spirit of things she was determined that the show would go on. Next we saw Michaels mum this was her first outing since being very ill back in the summer she had us laughing as she told us of having to help build the stage complete with curtains etc. All the team had been there since Thursday working to get everything ready so that we could have a good weekend.

By now most people had arrived and after freshening up we made our way into a lounge which had been set aside for us to have tea/coffee and biscuits (lovely shortbread). Michael welcomed us all and introduced all the team including the 2 band members who would be playing with him all weekend this was a lovely way to get to know everyone.

So to the real purpose of the weekend it was time to get ready for our first dinner with everyone looking very smart we congregated in the anteroom of The Woodland Suite where we checked the seating plan, we were shown into the room where beautifully set circular tables greeted us and took our places. Tonight was a set meal of vegetable soup followed by chicken with new potatoes, mash potato, carrots, swede, green beans courgette and broccoli. This was followed by Dutch apple pie and custard with tea and coffee plus mints all very delicious. A short break then it was time for the show which as always was fantastic Michael was full of energy and sang song after song all our old favourites (hopefully someone will publish a song list). He introduced Chloe onto stage and she sang some songs from the musicals for us in her own imitable style which as always was perfect although she admitted to being very nervous just before coming onto the stage. During the interval Michael came and had his photo taken with everyone and these were to be available to buy the next day. It was definitely a night to remember as it overran by quite a bit as no one wanted Michael to finish but it had to come to an end sometime as we needed a little sleep as we had an exciting day planned on the Saturday plus we knew we were in for another late night as well.

Breakfast on Saturday morning was again filled with fun as we were all in good cheer and looking forward to our day out Michael had asked us the night before to pray for good weather and indeed our prayers had been answered as the sun came out. Due to volume of traffic we made our way straight to Stratford upon Avon where we embarked on a cruise down the river, now there were three boats and only one Michael so he decided to spend a little time on all the boats which necessitated swapping from boat to boat in the middle of the river cameras were poised ready just in case he fell into the water but in true James Bond style he achieved it. After a couple of hours to look around the shops we made our way to The Shakespeare Hotel where we had a beautiful cream tea the scones were lovely and warm so combined with jam and cream delicious.

After a nice trip home taking in the scenic route we arrived back at the hotel in time to relax before making ourselves beautiful for our Gala dinner and show.
Once more we gathered at The Woodland Suite, we were to have the same tables but tonight they were arranged around the dance floor. Tonight we had chosen our meals so each place was set with a lovely place card with our choice of menu plus a lovely photo of Michael on the back of each one. There were various choices  followed by tea/coffee and mints.

The band was playing Good looking Woman and Michael casually picked up the microphone and sang for us the show had started he complimented all the ladies on their appearance and told the men they scrubbed up well, I have to say I think everyone looked wonderful. Tonight Michael sang lots of new songs plus some of our favourites there were lots of dedications for birthdays etc on both nights. On both nights Michaels mum and a friend ‘Kelly’ had been selling raffle tickets and five of these were picked out and the lucky winners were handed an envelope one of these contained an invitation for a fully paid weekend on our next ‘friends’ weekend away. The rest won chocolates and drinks. We also had a fun game of stand up bingo  we had all been given a bingo ticket and if you had the number called on your ticket you sat down this continued until there was only one person left standing, we also played another fun game heads and tails you chose whether to put your hands on your head or bottom and if heads was called all those who chose their bottom sat down and vice versa again until one person was left standing. Everyone took part amongst great hilarity.
Lots of fun and dancing for the rest of the evening including our traditional ‘Hokey Cokey’ and New York New York to which Michael adds his own bits like speeding it up and making us kick higher and higher.

Nobody wanted this night to end but eventually Michael finished by singing You Raise Me Up dedicated to us all, he handed over to the disco D.J. promising to dance with whoever wanted him to. I think many of us decided that although our brains thought they were 20 something our feet and bodies told another story so we made our way to the lounge for a nightcap.
Breakfast this morning was followed by many going to mass at the local church where Michael sang Amazing Grace which I know from personal experience he sings beautifully.
After many goodbyes we all made out individual way home after the most fantastic weekend.

Michael's Weekend at Mottram

Another fabulous weekend as you say, I feel very privileged to have attended both friends weekends and look forward to the next although don't think we will be there in July but will be in October all being well.

Now for a short report on weekend (although short report and Kathy don't usually go together)
We arrived at Mottram Hall just before midday to be greeted by Michael’s mum and 'Kelly' who showed us to the bar where many of us waited until our rooms were ready, once we had our keys we made our way there and once more as is the norm at this chain of hotels it was excellent. After a quick walk around the grounds we found out where the welcome meeting was taking place after greeting even more friends we made our way to enjoy a welcome cup of tea plus biscuits and to catch up on all the news about what was planned for the weekend as we knew we had a surprise trip planned for Saturday but very few knew what it involved. The trip turned out to be a journey back in time to ride on a steam train (fabulous) www.east-lancs-rly.co.uk then to have time to shop at The World Famous Bury Market www.burymarket.com Michael also introduced us to all the team who work so hard putting these weekends together for us, it was nice to see Steve (Michaels sound engineer) here with us as he has been ill for some time. A little free time to enjoy the facilities before meeting for dinner and our first concert.

I can't believe it has been just a little over two years since I first heard Michael sing he just gets better and better, lots and lots of new songs, loads of repartee with everyone there, I will try and remember what songs he sang and post as another message but help from anyone else will be much appreciated. As we have come to expect and indeed look forward to the wonderful Chloe Costello
also sang for us. I think the show finished at about 12-30 I do know that none of us wanted it to end but as we had an early start the next day we thought we had better try and get some sleep.

Saturday morning and after a lovely breakfast we set off for our train journey it was lovely to see the train arrive in the station in full steam brought back many happy memories of my childhood when I used to travel by steam train to visit my grandmother. The journey took about 3/4's of an hour each way we did have a stop at the terminus for refreshments. Then it was shopping time we had all been given a souvenir bag and off we went now for those of you from other countries or indeed other parts of the U.K. Lancashire and especially Bury is home to 'Black Pudding' http://en.wikpedia.org/wiki/Black_pudding so of course this was a must to buy also Lancashire cheese is another fabulous product from here http://en.wikpedia.org/wiki/Lancashire_cheese

As we were having a cream tea on our return we also bought strawberries to eat with our scones with jam and cream. Once more we met up before going in for dinner prior to another wonderful concert/dance. A completely different choice of songs tonight. All the dedications and some special presentations had been saved for tonight, several couples were celebrating wedding anniversaries so they were all presented with a gift from Michael. Once more we didn't want the show to end but at around 1am it did. Michael waited by the door to say individual good nights to us all, as it was the start
of British Summertime we had an hours less sleep to look forward to but there again who could think of sleeping after a brilliant night like we had just spent.

Sunday morning and after breakfast we packed our cases said our good byes and made our way home.

Mrs Days – Soham 25th July 2009

We left mid afternoon for the two and a half hour journey to Soham.
Meeting up with lots of friends in the car park we made our way in, it was nice to see the main
hall full as things have been very quiet at Soham for the last few weeks.
We were a party of 8 and as I said lots of friends including Les and
Audrey, Keely Richard and grandparents, Sue and Stuart, Hilary, Sarah, Lorna, Winston
and some from Kent connection were scattered about the room. At our table was
Rodney, Wendy, Hilda, Chris, Rosie, Marlene Dave and so a good night was forecast.
Whilst we were eating Michael and Chloe were greeting every table so lots of
good wishes on their engagement plus cards and presents were given, they both
looked so happy and yes girls Chloe’s ring is beautiful and Michael ensured me he
chose it himself. It had been touch and go whether Chloe would make it last
night as she had had a throat infection for the last week but she did come and
more about her later.
Although doors and windows were open and fans going it was very warm in the room
so I suspect even warmer on stage. Michael came on to a very warm welcome and
sang a few songs with the usual banter in between lots of people were up
dancing, about 3/4 way through the first half his voice suddenly became very
croaky and he was finding it increasingly hard to sing some of the songs even
with a supply of water and throat sweets (just lucky I had some in my handbag)
it didn't help much. As the true professional that he is he continued until the
break.
Now it was Chloe’s turn but before she entertained us they were both on stage and
Michael told us all the details of the very romantic proposal on 6th June.
Michaels mum had made a beautiful photo album of the weekend for us all to see
and share some of the special moments. No need to plan your wedding outfits just
yet as no date has been set but possibly 2011 due to other commitments.
Chloe sang a new song for us which I think was called Somewhere and even Michael was astonished at the quality and power of her voice.
He continued with the second half after again apologising for the
loss of voice in the first part it appears the heat was just too overpowering. A
wonderful second half which had many of us dancing in 2 huge circles to lots of
songs I do know Michael was on the floor between the circles and was very nearly
crushed.
Another wonderful night was had by all, thanks to everyone for
making it so.

OUR STAR IS BORN

I had previously met Michael at the Dinner Dance so was very excited when we found he was going to sing at The Charity Show in Kincasslagh, little did we know what a treat we were in for.
Michael joined us on the Fun Bus at 5am Wednesday morning as we all travelled via Holyhead to the festival a good journey arriving about 18-45 at our hotels.
Thursday morning all refreshed we bumped into Michael whilst shopping by now he said the nerves were beginning to kick in, he asked me to pinch him as he still could not believe he was actually here in Ireland and preparing to sing on Saturday we kept telling him it was true and we were really looking forward to hearing him again. I am trying to keep this relevant to Michael as will also post a fuller report on the festival on various groups.
Friday morning and we set off for the charity walk Michael walked with Kay Chasalow Rose Tandy and myself joking he was our personal trainer so would make sure we all got to the end which we did, As we stood listening to the outside broadcast of the radio show Michael discovered I had sun cream in my bag so asked if he could have some as he was burning of course there were the usual jokes about me rubbing it in for him but he managed this all by himself, Michael was brilliant circulating through the crowd having photos taken although most people didn’t know who he was at this point.
Saturday off we travelled to the charity show we all wished Michael good luck as we left the bus by this time he was really nervous.
As we walked in there was a big banner above the North West merchandising stall wishing Michael good luck.
The show started and whilst I think Majella was singing we heard a call asking if Michael Muldoon was in the dome (I will add the funny story about this bit later) well Daniel came on and said it was his pleasure to introduce a young man with great talent to sing for us he went on to explain he had had the pleasure of hearing Michael sing earlier in the year and was delighted to welcome him to Kincasslagh so without more ado Michael came on stage and started singing hence the title ‘ OUR STAR WAS BORN’ everybody was amazed at the wonderful voice, now I can’t remember what he sang but I do remember the moves and Daniels comments from the wings re the same. Someone brought Michael a rose then Bernie Doherty who organises the Fun Bus gave Michael a basket off red roses from all at The North West Association because we are all so proud of him. I think he was supposed to sing 3 songs well he sang a lot more because nobody wanted him to leave the stage.
Talking to Michael after the show his comment was now I can relax and enjoy the festival but more was still to come.
Later that evening Michael was telling us that Gerry Flynn who is his ‘boss’ and also owns Enjoy Travel had flown in complete with champagne to congratulate him.
In church at mass on Sunday morning Michael joined the other singers in the choir stall he sang the first verse of Amazing Grace prior to the mass then sang another solo during the communion. At the end of the mass we had our own personal gospel concert as all the singers and solo and together.
Sunday evening we set off for the ball Michael was in his dinner suit looking wonderful and laughing and joking with us. Once more we had a table right in front of the stage so could see perfectly as we had half an hour to wait until the main entertainment began Daniel asked us if we would like a little treat so he said he had asked Michael to perform for us (it transpires that Michael had had a phone call from Daniel whilst travelling on the bus down to the ball, so he was whisked back to Dungloe to collect his material). Needless to say another wonderful performance.
Monday everybody had congregated outside P.J. Sweeney’s as Julia was doing a book signing accompanied by Daniel we were asked if we would like Michael to sing for us a resounding yes was the answer, Michael sang solidly for 2 hours which was wonderful.
Now here I must make an apology because I know that Michael was up on the stage with Daniel after the show had finished but by this time the hectic lifestyle had caught up with me and I couldn’t keep my eyes open so we had left just before this although I am certain someone will fill you in on this bit.
I did apologise to Michael and he said he understood.
I will end this with some thanks firstly to Michael for entertaining us so wonderfully and then to Bernie Doherty plus Sue and Gerry Flynn for introducing us to this wonderful talented young man who is going to go a long way in his career.
Roll on December when we see him again.

The Mottram Weekend.

Mottram Hall has a lengthy history, and for the last fifty years has been used initially by ‘Metropolitan Vickers’ as a company home, and then more recently turned into a Country House Hotel, Spa and Golfing Complex. In fact I remember going there, several times, in the late 60’s for weekend company breaks. These were family weekends, run by the various departments, within the A.E.I. factory at Trafford Park. Our son and daughter still remember playing in the woods and running around the lake. Mottram Hall has expanded considerably since those days, first by adding the Lake side wing, and more recently, the Golf wing.  These additions have not spoilt the fabulous views, or detracted from the atmosphere of the original house.
The weekend started on Friday with the first guests being picked up from Wilmslow Railway Station just before midday.  All was sorted in time for the welcome meeting, at which Michael gave more details of the itinerary for the weekend. Jill and I had a little chuckle to ourselves when ‘Michael’ announced that the trip on Saturday morning included a ride on the ‘East Lancashire Railway’. A very clear ‘Ooh’ was heard from everyone, clearly indicating everyone’s approval. In fact afterwards a guest, who was a steam rail enthusiast, thought it had been put on especially for his benefit. He was wrong, it was more for mine!
The concert, after the evening meal, took place in the St. Andrews Suite. Michael was excellent, Chloe sublime, and a good time was had by all. We all retired, after a late end to the day.
Saturday morning required everyone to have an early start; everyone was bright and cheerful, matching the weather. Our two coaches left the hotel at 9.15am (what time?), and we travelled up to Bury Station. The Railway is run by volunteers, and we were met by the Station Master in his full Uniform, and top hat. Bury Stations retains its old character, wood panelling, etc. The ticket office and entrance to the station are over the top of the platforms, which are accessed by a stairs, but there is no lift. So, a few of the less nimble, took a side entrance, which meant crossing the Railway tracks, as in the old days. Your hero, me, was helping one young lady across the tracks, looked up to see a very large Steam Engine, and carriages, coming round the bend, and bearing down on us. Was this a flash back to black and white film days, and rescuing the damsel in distress? Our progress was slow, and train getting ever nearer, will we make it? The passengers waiting on the platform, started to panic, having seen the impending disaster. Like a true hero, I swept the young lady, who will remain nameless, off her feet, and gained the safety of the platform in the nick of time.  During the train ride Michael had photo’s taken with everyone on board.
Keeping with the theme of nostalgia, we took everyone to Bury Market. It still retains the old atmosphere, with over 300 covered stalls, vendors calling their wares, and an unbelievable range of items on sale. The most popular of these being ‘Bury Black Pudding’, to be eaten hot, with lashings of mustard. Every body, on arrival, was given a ‘bag for life’, which was brightly coloured, with a ‘Bury Market’ logo. Several guests were stopped and asked by the locals where they had obtained the bags. One guest being an entrepreneur sold his, making a good profit.  We returned to Mottram Hall by mid afternoon, to a very welcomed, cream tea with freshly baked warm scones. (And the obligatory strawberries smuggled in by some unnamed friends)!!!!!
The evening meal was enjoyed by most (despite the ‘leatherlike’ roast beef)!! (Just one of things that is out of our hands) but spirits were revived when Michael began his second show supported by Chloe. The evening ended with everybody, singing and dancing into the small hours of the morning.

The night all too soon was brought to a close with Michael being overwhelmed by a rapturous standing ovation for him and Chloe. Sunday was upon us yet again, and after a full breakfast, we packed, said our farewells, and returned home.

Hi everyone,

Well another great night was enjoyed by all last night, Michael in
top form, Chloe was not there as she has her own show in Rochdale tomorrow so good
luck to her I’m sure she will be great.

Michael once again kept the dance floor full, throughout the night singing all
our favourite songs. We ended the night as we always do with a chat and photo
then headed off home.

It Was nice to see Kathy and Dave there too I’m sure they enjoyed the night as well.

Looking forward to seeing Michael again soon and looking forward to his new
album .

Well all for now

Best wishes

Hi folks,

Went to see Michael last night at the Talbot club in Eccles, Had a
great night once again, there was lots going on throughout the night.
The night started with Michael who was in his usual top form, then we had two
Irish dancers, who were 18 year old twins name Emily and Amy these were also
very good. As it was a Fundraising night we had various games and raffles going
on too.
After this Michael returned to the stage to introduce Chloe who sang three
songs and she was also in good form. Then Michael returned to finish off the
night which ended up being early morning finishing at about 1.10a.m. The dance
floor was full all night.
We finished off the evening with a chat and photo before heading off home.

We are Looking forward to seeing Michael again in 4 weeks. Can’t wait !!!

Best wishes

The Weekend in Warwickshire

Even though we were busy the whole weekend, Jill and I had a fantastic time.  Kathy Williams gives a very detailed report of the weekend, as enjoyed by everyone attending. But as part of the team running the event our prospective was different to the guests. We thought you would like to know how much we enjoyed meeting everyone, and more importantly how much we now realise, everyone really enjoyed the weekend, and thank everyone for their kind comments, cards and letters.

We started helping Michael with the preparation for the weekend many months before October. It was a totally new experience for us. We had many a chuckle about what to do, and how to do it. Paper work is not an exciting point with us, but what about a stage? “Yes we needed one!” “Hire it, where from?” “No idea, make one.” “How? Simple we said, if ‘MFI’ can make flat packs so can we.” Half a ton of timber, and 100 square metres of curtaining later,  a bag of screws and bolts, no instructions, and we had a stage.

The Team all arrived on the Thursday night, prior to everybody coming on the Friday. We worked late into the evening, building the stage, and setting up the sound equipment. Needless to say, we all went to bed, tired, and apprehensive, about the coming weekend. We need not have worried.

You all started to arrive from mid morning onwards. Some enjoyed the Spa (the computer wants us to spell ‘spa’ as ‘Spar’, Microsoft must have a deal with the local corner shop chain?), whilst others took their husbands on a shopping spree to Coventry (ostensibly a sight seeing visit).  Just after lunch, two cars went to Coventry Railway Station to pick up the people coming by train. Having never been to the railway station before it was suggested “why not use a Satellite Navigation System”, was it impressive! Half an hour later, and a10 mile journey, the station entrance zoomed by without any warning, from the kindly voice on the ‘Sat. Nav.’. Needless to say, the ‘off’ switch on the device was found, and the return journey was uneventful, 3 miles, and 10 minutes later we were back at the hotel.

Charlie, the young lady from the hotel, who manned our reception, was invaluable in helping to get everybody registered, and solve any problems that occurred. From that point onwards, throughout the weekend, every assistance was given to us by the all the hotel staff, for which we are eternally grateful.

The original plan was to have our Evening meal, on Friday, in ‘The Clarendon Restaurant’.  But due to our numbers, it was necessary to change and have the dinner in the ‘Woodland Suite’. This meant the concert on Friday was Cabaret style seating, instead of Theatre. All worked fine, and the change caused little problem. The concert was a great success, and everybody enjoyed Michael’s singing.

A night cap and off to bed, rounded off the first day. We slept soundly, no fire alarms, no emergencies, just us snoring quietly all night. We awoke, showered, shaved (Mike), and came down for a Buffet style breakfast. (oh yes we did dress, before coming down for breakfast).

The coaches arrived promptly, the drivers had coffee, and then we left for Stratford upon Avon. We had been told by the local Authority, that there could be traffic congestion, owing to the ‘Run Away Mop Fair’, taking place in Stratford upon Avon. So we drove directly to Stratford, instead of taking a more scenic route, as was originally planned, before taking our Cruise on the river Avon. We never did find the ‘Run Away Mop Fair’, or, saw any traffic congestion, and can only assume the Fair had run away before we got there.

There was a period during the cruise, which caused us a great deal of worry. Michael wishing to please everyone, decided to ‘Tranship’ from boat to boat midstream. If Michael had fallen in, who could we have found to take his place for the evening dinner dance, at such short notice! Then I thought, “Heck, I will have to jump in and rescue him, and that water looks cold”!

The ‘Afternoon Cream Tea’, at the Shakespeare Hotel, was fantastic. Whilst Michael and I were greeting everyone, and showing them where to go, a scruffily dressed man appeared, sat down at the Autoplay Grand Piano, messed about with the mechanism, and then played a really accomplished medley of songs, without any sheet music, until we finished the cream tea.
Jill and I, noticed that the Clan from Scotland, who never stopped laughing and giggling the whole weekend, smuggled in a punnet of Strawberries. As the only seats left, just happened to be at their table, (well I couldn’t see any others), they were very kind to share them with us.

The evening Dinner Dance, went extremely well. A dance floor had been laid, and the tables rearranged, place names put out, and the appropriate cutlery placed for each Guest. Dhama, our Maitre’d, then realised as everyone entered, they were rearranging the place names on the tables. Wrong Cutlery! He quietly told his staff to rearrange, the cutlery, after people had sat down, so that everybody had their correct weapons. No disaster, he said, everybody has been so friendly, it was a joy to serve them.

The rest of the evening sailed by, everybody was up, singing and dancing, and before we knew it, it was 1 o’clock, and time to finish. The impression we received was it could have carried on all night.

Sunday, was leisurely. Michael, and a good number of people, went to the local church, for morning service, where Michael sang hymns at the alter. Others made use of the Spa and Pool, before packing, and leaving for home. Having said goodbye to everyone, we dismantled the stage and sound equipment, before leaving for home at about 5pm.

Our final and probably the nicest surprise was, as we said our goodbyes to the hotel staff, and the management. Their response to our question ‘How did they think the weekend went?’, was, ‘they have never enjoyed, as much, having a group of people who had created such a friendly atmosphere, and could you all come every week!’

Next to Mottram Hall, and their motto ‘This is the life’!

Hi Everyone

Just to let you know, Michael and Chole were  at Daniel's concert in Blackburn. Michael was there to interview Daniel and Mary Duff, for his radio show A Touch of Irish on Tyne Fm every Sunday evening at 9pm, so keep tuned in and listen out for the interviews. When we find out when they will be aired we will let you know. We got a lovely surprise when Daniel invited Michael on stage to sing a couple of songs, I am not sure who was the most surprised Michael or us. Well nerves apart Michael ( he was shaking) took to the stage and entertained us all. What a treat for Michael and an even bigger treat for us.

WHEN THE LIGHTS WENT OUT ON MICHAEL MULDOON

This title is a direct quote from Michael last night but I will explain about it later.
Well what can I say another great night with Michael, we left home mid afternoon and after an uneventful trip arrived at the next village to Soham to pick up our friends Ian and Rose with whom we were sharing a table for the evening arriving at Soham about 6-30p.m. After greeting several other friends we made our way to our table to find that friends Sandie and Jim were also sharing with us and Chris and Ken were sitting at the table in front of ours a nice party atmosphere before the show had even began. There were lots of other friends there with whom we caught up with as the evening progressed. I forgot to say that as we were waiting in the foyer Michael was sound checking and then came up to the back to greet everyone plus his mum and girlfriend saw Dave and I so came to say hello I asked Chloe if she was going to sing but she replied not tonight. We also spoke to Pat Jordan.
As always the evening began with a lovely five course meal, then the show which had been advertised as Pat Jordan and his band with guest star Michael Muldoon. It was a surprise when the band started playing and Michael was announced which meant he was going to perform for the first part of the evening, he immediately started singing and all those who hadn’t seen Michael before were immediately captivated. Soon the dance floor was full and the party was in full swing. As most people know I have the worst memory so can’t remember in what order or even what Michael sang but suffice to say it was fantastic, the whole place was buzzing. Some other news Michael now has an official fan club so we immediately joined there and then but a little more on that later as well.
I was sitting at the back of the room chatting to Michaels mum and Chloe listening to Michael as well when suddenly all the lights on the stage went out hence the title which in Michaels words were I can see the headlines in the Sunday papers When the lights went out on Michael Muldoon. We all had a good laugh and soon light was restored only for it to happen again a little later on. Throughout it all Michael kept singing. He dedicated a song to one lady as she was number one in his fan club having joined at the beginning of the evening. All too soon it was the interval and after only a few minutes Michael was changed and meeting everybody in the foyer for photos and signing C.D’s.
Even though it had only been a few weeks it was nice to catch up with all the latest news, Michael should have his band on the road in April and he put the finishing tracks to his c.d. last week so that should also be ready fingers crossed by April as he now has or will by March be under new management. If I have any of the details wrong I am sure somebody will correct them and all corrections gratefully appreciated.
The second half of the show Pat Jordan entertained us and part way through said he had had several requests so he was going to ask a lovely young lady to come and sing a couple of songs for us, this was a total surprise to Chloe as she had neither come prepared to sing or even warmed up her voice but bravely came onto the stage and sang for us when I say everyone was taken aback by this wonderful voice it is no exacerbation, where such a tiny person got such a huge voice from is beyond me.
We finished the show with everyone on the dance floor singing along with Pat, Michael and Chloe.
I have had some wonderful nights at Soham but have to admit this one of the best ever.
After more hugs we left knowing we will see Michael again in 4 weeks at The North West dinner dance so already looking forward to that.

Hello
Well better late than never or so they say so here is the report from Sunday
night.
Following Michaels debut at this club last year it was lovely to be invited as
Rodney and Wendy's guests to see Michael perform here again.
He arrived a little after 5pm and informed us that he was doing a phone
interview for Radio Suffolk at 5-20pm or thereabouts so with about a minute to
go the shout went up everybody to the cars to listen 'live'so to speak if you
haven't heard it it was a very good interview with news of Michaels new c.d.
hopefully being ready in next 2-3 months.
Just after 8pm Michael took to the stage and commenced the show with Hello My
Friends continuing with many of our favourites plus his lovely version of The
Town I Loved So Well. Chloe also sang for us which as everyone who has heard her
Daniel included knows how powerful her voice is and she gets better every time I
see her, before the show she was practicing 3 new songs which I am sure will
appear on her itinerary before too long. The second half continued in the same
vein with lots of birthday dedications. Michael sang The Blacksheep especially
for me as he knows it is probably my favourite song although there are many more
I like as well.
All too soon as these things have to the concert came to an end so with lots of
repartee whilst packing everything up Michael, Chloe, Paul and Mike departed
armed with scones, strawberry jam and cream plus biscuits to keep them going for
the long journey home.
Hopefully it won't be too long before I see Michael again. He did tell us about
the interview with Daniel and I knew he was going to the show but to be invited
up to sing must have been the icing on the cake.

Hi Friends,

Once again we had a great night at Shapwells hotel with Michael.
Michael sang lots of favourites and was in top form as always.
We had a xmas sing a long which was very enjoyable Michael walked around among
us whilst singing which was great. This was very festive along with coffee and a
mince pie. What better way to start our Christmas festivities than a sing a long
with Michael!

Chloe sang a few new songs tonight and was also in good form.

Celtic beat the Irish dancers also did a few new routines for us which were
again very good.

A great night was enjoyed by all -looking forward to seeing Michael at the
Kincasslagh reunion with Daniel in January Can't wait !

We would like to wish everyone who may read this report a merry xmas and a happy
new year and here’s to many more reports in the new year .

Best wishes
